Nicole Brown Simpson, O.J. Simpson’s First Wife: Bio and What Happened to Her

Based on the information available in Biography, Nicole Brown Simpson was born on May 19, 1959 in Frankfurt, West Germany. She moved with her family to Garden Grove, California when she was still a toddler, and adjusted to the new environment well. Nicole began working at The Daisy as a waiter at the age of 18. It was an upscale club in Beverly Hills, where she met O. J. Simpson in 1977. At that time, Simpson was still married to his first wife, Marguerite Whitley. Two years later, Simpson and Marguerite finalized their divorce in 1979.

According to ABC News, Nicole was a community college student, model and an aspiring photographer when she first met Simpson. But despite Simpson’s celebrity status, both as an NFL player and an actor, Nicole had never heard of him before the meeting. The relationship between the two pretty much hit the ground running. After seven years together, they became officially husband and wife in February 1985. They were divorced in 1992, two years before Nicole’s death.

Nicole’s dog was barking relentlessly around the time of the murder and actually followed a neighbor as he was walking home. This neighbor, Steven Schwab, then asked yet another neighbor, Boztepe, to take care of the dog for the night. Since the animal kept on barking, Boztepe and his partner Bettina Rasmussen decided to take it for a walk. Little did they know the dog would actually return home and lead them to a murder scene. There were two bodies; one was Nicole’s and the other belonged to her friend Ronald Goldman.

The autopsy report showed that Nicole had been stabbed repeatedly in the neck and head. As a matter of fact, the stab wound in the neck was so deep that it left a gaping cut across the throat. She was almost decapitated. The medical examiner also found some blunt force injuries to the head and defensive wounds on her hands. Goldman had suffered more than 25 stab wounds, many of them penetrated his vital organs.

Murder Trial

Her ex-husband was the primary suspect. But after a lengthy and complicated murder trial, Simpson was found not guilty. However, the court found him liable for the wrongful deaths of the two victims in a civil trial in 1997. He served no prison time, but the judge ordered him to pay $35 million in damages to the victims’ families.
