Even At My Lois, I Was Still A Family Guy: What does this mean

If you’re a family-oriented person or a fan of the TV show Family Guy, you may have wondered about the phrase, ‘Even at my Lois, I was still a family guy.’ You’re not alone—many people are curious about its meaning. In this post, I’ll break down what this phrase really means.

What is Family Guy?

What do you get when you have a dim-witted dad, sarcastic mom, awkward older brother, unpopular sister, genius baby brother, and a talking dog? You get the popular American animated sitcom series Family Guy. Created by Seth McFarlane, the show aired in 1999 only to be canceled in 2000 and 2002. Due to a huge fan base and DVD sales, Fox TV revived the show, and is now on its 22nd season.  Family Guy follows the Griffin family living in the fictional American town of Quahog, Rhode Island. Their popularity has grown over the years because of their sarcastic, sometimes offensive humor and satirical take on pop culture, historical events, and internet memes. They show this through the daily lives of the Griffin family.

Who is Lois?

The Griffin family is composed of the loveable, impulsive Peter Griffin, who is the patriarch of the family. His better half, Lois, is considered the voice of reason in the family, being the one to balance Peter’s impulsiveness with her sarcasm. Together, they raise three children: two awkward teenagers, Chris and Meg, and a genius baby with a British accent, Stewie. The Griffin family also has a talking dog, Brian, who also loves martinis.

Even at my Lois, I was still a family guy, meaning

In spite of the differences between Peter and Lois, the couple remains loyal to each other. This brought about the phrase, “Even at my Lois, I am still a family guy.” Family Guy fans quickly catch on to the phrase as a play on Lois, the matriarch, and the adjective lowest, referring to the challenging moments in one’s life. This phrase refers to Peter being the family guy, no matter how low or how lowest life can go. Lois is Peter’s rock, who guides him through all their misadventures. As long as Lois is there, Peter is the Griffin Family Guy.
