I’m notorious for throwing out the kids clothes out of pure laziness if they become stained. The main culprit is Frankie, I don’t know what he does be doing but every second day his clothes are destroyed with stubborn stains. The most common stains on his clothes are tomato sauce, strawberry and the worst of all, poop. The joys of motherhood! In most cases the stains are removable with a bit of man power but I’m not that domesticated so when Vanish contacted me to try out some of there stain removal products and I couldn’t refuse.

We combination weaned little man so dinner time can be super messy, especially on spag-ball day. He does be covered in tomato sauce from head to toe. A majority of the time I strip him down or put on large bibs but he still manages to get it somewhere. I’ve been using Vanish Gold Oxi Action powder fabric stain remover and it’s brilliant. Depending on the tomato sauce damage I pop one scoop of powder in a 4L basin of warm water and leave to soak for an hour if coloured or 5-6 hours for whites and then wash as normal. Every time it has worked a treat and all the red saucy stains are completely gone!

Then there’s Kayla. For someone who loves dressing up, make-up and all things princessy – she’s a disaster for grass stains. Thankfully her school tracksuit is dark but everything else she wears is light. I found both Vanish Gold Powergel pre-treater and Vanish Oxi Action fabric stain removers a god send. I just squeezed or sprayed a small amount of the product onto the knees of her tights or leggings, rubbed in circular motion for a couple of minutes and then put them in the wash as normal and all the stains were gone. The key is to the stains as early as possible, the longer I left the stains, the longer I would be rubbing.

Our household budget wouldn’t normally allow us to buy brand named products but I can guarantee you Vanish Oxi Action powder and the pre-treater gel will be always found in our cleaning press now. Realistically it will save me money in the long run because we don’t have the money to be throwing out clothes either.
