Brand Newbies Trolley Seat Cover Review & Giveaway

Nothing frustrates me more than Frankie chewing the chain or handle of a shopping trolley after reading this article a couple years ago. So when I was approched to review the trolley seat cover from Brand Newbies I was very excited to try it out in hope it would prevent him slobbering all over the yucky germs proven to be found on a high percentage of trolleys and for those days when the trolleys are soaked because they are stored outside. Straffan Butterfly Farm

Yesterday we continued our A-Z of Adventures around Ireland and headed off to the quiet countryside of Co.Kildare to visit Straffan Butterfly Farm. Straffan Butterfly Farm is a family run business which opens to the public every summer with an exhibition to introduce people to the existence of the world of butterflies.

Upon arrival we checked out some of the live tarantulas, snakes, stick insects, millipedes and small reptiles in the exhibition room all housed in their natural surroundings that can be viewed up close as they go about their daily lives. There was collections of butterflies and other creepy crawlies on display from all over the world too. We then continued on to the movie room and enjoyed an interesting and educational 15 minute film about the life cycle of the butterfly. Pip & Pear Review

Earlier this week I received the cutest chilled hamper of goodies from Pip & Pear for Frankie to review. In it we received nine different flavours such as Baby Beef Ragu, Chicken Lickin Casserole and Squashy Potato. The textures ranged from stage one (5+ months) to stage three (10+ months).

I love the story behind this Irish owned business. Pip and Pear was born when working mum of two Irene struggled to find a healthy alternative to her home cooking. Like myself she could only find heavily processed long shelf life pouches and jars. After many late nights in her restaurant ‘No.9 Barronstrand St’ she began refining recipes and soon had a dedicated baby menu with customers travelling from all over the South to stock up on her delicious homemade meals for their babies. Since being encouraged by her loyal customers she then entered the Blas na hEireann Irish Food Awards and walked away with three awards for her nutritious homemade meals. Irene then made a huge decision to bring a full range of products to the market to help parents who want to only their babies the best.

Kawaii Karate Lottie

LOTTIE is a ‘pro-girl’ doll based on the average proportions of a 9-year-old. She presents a healthy view on body image and is a positive role model for young children.

Each Lottie has a beautiful story with an adventurous background. Our Kawaii Karate Lottie trains hard to master her technique. Even though Kayla does Taekwon Do, it’s structure is very similar. Karate is also more than self-defence, it teaches respecting yourself and to always try to be a better person, being courteous to others and not using karate when you are angry. And Lottie promotes all of this in her story.

Our Kawaii Karate Lottie included:
Karate gi (Karate training uniform consisting of jacket, trousers)
A white belt (obi)
Rising sun headband
Yellow obi
Protective headgear
Karate techniques collector cards

Kayla’s Review
I really like my Lottie doll alot, I have also named her Lottie too. I like that she has the same uniform as me and so do my friends at my Taekwondo class. I like that her hair doesn’t tangle up like most of my other dolls, her hair is lovely and soft and so shiney. She stands up too, none of my other dollies can do that. I like that my Lottie dolls looks like me. She doesn’t wear jewellery or make-up and she’s very bendy (flexible) and it’s really easy to change her outfit too. I really like my Lottie Doll.

Overall Kayla was super impressed and so am I. I love how Lottie presents a healthy view on body image, modelled on the dimensions of a real girl. The fact she is flat chested and make-up free is an added bonus.

A Day in Family Life with Berit Alits Photography

I was recently invited to take part in a ‘Day in Family Life’ shoot with Berit Alits, a professional wedding and portrait photographer based in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.

A Day in Family Life shoot is when a photographer joins you and your family in your home half as a guest, and half as a photographer shadowing your daily routines, capturing a visual diary of images as they happen with no posing or direction.

At first I was very anxious about inviting a complete stranger into my home but nowadays with technology I was able to research everything before finally agreeing.

Berit arrived last Sunday and highly recommended continuing our normal daily routine to keep the captured moments more real and honest. As advised we didn’t dress up nor had our hairs done. I wore my everyday BB cream, leggings and had my hair the way it would be any other day because that is how my kids will remember me. As for the kids and the other half, they wore their everyday clothes too.

Kayla took to Berit immediately and began requesting pictures, posing in true fashion within moments of her arrival, while Frankie wasn’t fazed by her presence at all. Daddy on the other hand is camera shy so he found it a little awkward adjusting to been followed everywhere. Although within an hour he was fine.

Berit was so professional at all times. She was fantastic with the kids; she blended in and interacted as she snapped some precious moments that the kids can revisit and put an actual picture to their memories when they are older.

Berit took close to one-thousand photo’s on the day and we received just around three-hundred beautiful images. Here are some of my favourites…

He got a boo-boo…

And yes that’s a five year old wrestling a pregnant woman…

Off to Taekwon-Do…

All that excess energy landed her five minutes on the naughty step…

Bathtime…

We went to our usual fairy hunting spot on the outskirts of Blessington in Co. Wicklow…

While the day itself was long it was an unforgettable experience. The photos will be cherished and something very precious to look back on in years to come. Berit has an amazing eye for capturing the beauty in everything in front of her lens, and as an added bonus she is such a lovely person I would highly recommend Berit for all your photography needs.

Sophie La Girafe Review & Giveaway

Teething toy, Sophie La Girafe was born in France over fifty years ago. She measures 17cm and is a flexible, slender and soft toy that babies’ can squeeze and chew safely. Sophie is a 100% natural toy, free from phthalates and BPA free. She is also painted with non-toxic food-grade paint.

When Frankie began teething about six months ago I struggled to find a teething toy that would fit in his little hands. My neighbour rescued us one evening when he gifted us with a Sophie La Girafe, a little squeaky giraffe shaped teether designed for little hands no matter what position it was held it in. Being Frankie, he put it straight to his mouth and found immediate comfort as he chewed and drooled over her.

Frankie has mauled and gnawed on every inch of her body, from her ears, horns and legs. It’s definitely a favourite here. She is very light and her long legs and neck were easy for him to grip especially when he was younger. He also got very excited when he heard her squeak. Her flexible & soft body means that he can manipulate her into different positions too.

I found Sophie very effective, so when we lost her on our travels one day I picked up another and she was loved as much as the first. I’d recommend a Sophie La Girafe for babies’ aged 3-12 months old; she is a classic teether that stimulates senses whilst soothing them too.

I have managed to get my hands on a standard Sophie La Girafe to GIVEAWAY to one lucky My Little Babog reader.

Claudi & Fin Review

Claudi + Fin High Res image- Pack Shot

Claudi & Fin lollies were developed by two mumpreneurs, Lucy Woodhouse and Meriel Kehoe. They both shared a love for healthy food but struggled to find a natural ice lolly with wholesome ingredients, so they set about making their own at their kitchen table. After months of taste testing they perfected the recipe for their first product – a naturally delicious frozen lolly made with Greek style yoghurt, real fruit and vitamins, sweetly naming it after their children, Claudia and Fin.

aboutus_imageWe recently received some yummy Claudi & Fin lollies to review and we tucked in straight away. I LOVED the creamy texture, a refreshing change and a healthier alternative especially now during our mini heatwave and the fact I’m currently pregnant and the heartburn is atrocious. Kayla loved the strawberry flavoured lolly (yah more mango for me), she also made me giggle when she said they tasted just like frozen yogurts.

IMG_20150408_123307 (2)Claudi & Fin lollies come in two delicious flavours – Mango and Strawberry with real fruit puree, whole milk, Greek style yogurt containing calcium, potassium and zinc and 30% of your child’s recommended daily intake of Vitamin D.

If you’re looking to put a healthier spin on snack time this summer Claudi & Fin ice-lollies can be found in your local Super Valu and Centra stores in a pack of 4 for €3.50.

I received a generous amount of Claudi & Fin lollies for reviewing purposes. I basically emptied my freezer to make room after the first taste test because I did not want to share them with friends and family. All opinion as always are my own and Kayla’s of course.

Teetha Teething Granules Review

Frankie has all the symptoms, the barrels of drool, sensitive and swollen gums and he is very irritable. His little cheeks are all flushed and bright red. He refuses food, bites, and chews everyone and anything. So a new tooth is no longer a milestone to celebrate. My poor little dude is currently cutting his seventh tooth. (more…)
