When I look back at the Big Kid starting school I feel like I was in a hurry for her to grow up – I know seems weird doesn’t it? But I was, I couldn’t wait for her to start crawling, to start walking, to start talking, to start school. I worked pretty much all her baby years – she started creche at four months old because I got a job opportunity that I couldn’t turn down. (more…)

So here we are on the eve of the referendum. It’s been a very long road. It’s been emotionally draining. I’m literally exhausted after weeks of chats, events, canvassing, postering and leafleting. Tomorrow we will vote in one of the most important referendums of our lives. Tomorrow I will vote YES.
Ah, lads, it all happened so quick. It was like I was there blinked and I was home again. As you all know I’m no stranger to Martinhal having visited last year with Kenzie. (more…)
I’m not long in this parenting game but it’s definitely thought me a thing or two in these short few years. You’ll never piss in peace. You’ll never eat a whole meal by yourself. Someone is always hungry. An ass will always need wiping. And you will find yourself being the parent you said you never wanted to be. (more…)
Remember when I said I’d blog more often, I lied. Yeah, I’ve written about days out and stuff but actual blog posts are pretty non-existent at the moment. It’s just hectic, I don’t know my arse from my elbow most days. It’s got to the point were the Big Kid has stopped asking to have friends over ’cause I’ve got a pile of washing stacked up behind the bedroom door that’s almost as tall as herself. (more…)
As a mum with kids who have a room full to the brim with toys, I try to avoid gifting plastics to others at Christmas and it is exactly what I’ve done again this year. I love gifting fluffy pj’s, festive jumpers, slippers and anything to keep cosy through the winters months myself, who doesn’t? Each year I also buy the kids festive knits or dresses, it’s almost become a little tradition and this year was no different. We’ve teamed up with F&F to share some of their festive pieces in store this season and it’s been most probably one of my favourite little sprees of the year. The kids stink of Christmas. (more…)
I’d love to start this by saying all was grand but in reality, it wasn’t. It all started the day of the storm. Joe was home, dinner was on and by dinner I mean I added sauce from a jar to a big bowl of pasta I made that morning in case the electricity went. It didn’t, thankfully. (more…)
Anyone who knows me well will tell you I’m an awful cook with exception to my homemade vegetable soup – it’s whopper if I do say so myself. If I was to be completely honest, I would say I don’t really enjoy cooking at all – for me, it’s a chore. And then of course with four smallies I struggle to find meals they will all eat. (more…)
We’ve soldiered through many a sickness in this house. We’ve had everything from measles to hand, foot, and mouth. I always saw the light at the end of the tunnel.
Then Saturday happened.
I will never forget Saturday for as long as I live. (more…)
I’m sure you’re all aware by now that our family unit is on our own little eco journey. To date we use cloth nappies, we compost, we use reusable water bottles, buy second-hand toys and clothes and recycle them too. I avoid chemicals where possible and I’m currently teaching my kids about saving energy and water. (more…)
