Luggwoods : A Visit Through Santa’s Enchanted Forest

Anyone who knows me will tell you I’m like a big kid when it comes to Christmas. I love the Toy Show, Christmas FM, when Jingles McSprinkles and Snowflake arrive, advent calendars, ice-skating, the lights but most of all I love the Christmas experiences, the days out with the kids. An Evening at WILD LIGHTS in Dublin Zoo

Last night we visited Wild Lights, the night-time festival of lights display featuring giant colourful lanterns and illuminated animal sculptures inspired by wildlife at Dublin Zoo. There’s no denying it’s a must-see production featuring an unbelievable 12,000 meters of silk, 19,000 bulbs, 5000 meters of LED lights, 48,000 glass bottles and 215,000 pieces of porcelain weighing over 9.5 tonnes. Pumpkin Picking at Ladyrath Lane

Ladyrath Lane in Co. Meath is a family run business dealing in outhouses and renovating sheds but they are known mostly for their Pumpkin Patch and seasonal events throughout the year. It was our first-time pumpkin picking at Ladyrath Lane today and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, whilst it’s quite a small patch it had everything a kid could ask for including the mud. All. The. Mud. My lot had to be dragged out of the place. We literally had two kicking and screaming when it was time to go. (more…)

Discovering the Eco Explorers Sustainability Trail at Dublin Zoo

A couple of months back we were amongst the first to experience the new Eco Explorers Sustainability Trail in Dublin Zoo. The Sustainability Trail has little stations around the Zoo, teaching young and old about the importance of living sustainably while the SSE Airtricity Eco Explorers interactive app makes it a little more fun and can be used on any tablet or smartphone.

Tayto Park is one of those days out we do once a year. I’d absolutely love to be able to do it more but with a larger family, it’s just too expensive for us. So with that in mind, I did my research before we went yesterday to make sure we got the most out of our day. Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park with the Babogs

Last Sunday saw us uncover the hidden gem that Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park is. Situated in Rathangan, Lullymore is a mineral island surrounded by a sea of peat. It has a host of heritage and biodiversity area’s suitable for all ages. And with it being voted the best day out with kids in Kildare by The Leinster Leader we had to let my kids put that to the test. Ardgillian Castle and Demesne, one of Ireland’s hidden gems situated in north county Dublin. A magnificent castle built in 1738 with the west and east wings added in the late 1800’s. The castle has since been restored and is open to daily guided tours but today we popped along after recommendations from parents in my Adventures of Eire group. It’s playground, panoramic views and gardens are said to be one of the best in Ireland… (more…)
