Digging Our Way Around Diggerland Kent

I honestly don’t know where to start. Diggerland is basically where young and old can ride, drive and operate real full-sized construction machinery. There were dirt diggers, giant diggers, dumper trucks and mini tractors amongst many other digger themed attractions.

We went to Diggerland in Kent earlier this month as part of our UK road trip and somehow managed to get an empty park – we booked for the same day as the World Cup Quarter Final, there wasn’t a soul to be seen. So please take that into consideration, we had absolutely no queues and got on EVERYTHING.

Everything is yellow. Everything is real. It was like looking into a building site without all the mess. There were diggers, everywhere.

My heart went out to all the staff on the day, the temperature was well into the thirties. Whoever was in charge was supplying bottles of cold water to keep all staff hydrated and factor 50 every couple of hours.

The kids had the ground shuttle to themselves and I watched on in horror. Kadie was living her best life.

The interactive Safari ride was the highlight for Frankie. He did it three times. He would have done it a fourth only the park was literally closing for the day. The driver we got on all three occasions was so lovely, super friendly and very good with kids. She brought us on a safari to meet lots of animals (large cardboard cutouts) including a lion, giraffe, rhinos and a snake.

Joe was in his element. He was like a big kid.

As was this one, she smiled the whole day.

There were lots of coin-operated rides at an extra cost for kids under 90cm and an indoor and outdoor play area to enjoy.

My only fault throughout our whole day there was this yoke, the Dig-A-Round, it was a bit rickety and only half the seats were working which made it feel a bit dodgy once strapped it.

Height restrictions are in full force and there are no negotiations. Kadie is a tall two and Frankie is a small four (basically they are the exact same height) and they could get on pretty much everything with an adult by their side, except maybe 2 or 3 things. This yoke brought us up 50ft into the air and my nerves were gone!

The food. OMG, the food. I’ve never in my life went to a theme park and wanted to order more. It was outstanding. Joe got a fry, I got an omelette and I’m pretty sure the kids got a sandwich, chips, goujons and a burger to share between them all. It’s all made fresh, the place was gleaming and you could have eaten your dinner off the bathroom floor. It’s a rare occasion for me to make comments like this but when credit is due and all that. The place was spotless.

I’ve never seen anything like Diggerland before, it was without a doubt one of the highlights for us on our UK road trip and we will 100% go back, to this exact one – they’ve four. There are Diggerlands in Devon, Yorkshire and Durham. Diggerland closes in winter. Tickets are £19.95 per person over 90cm in height and toddlers and babies go free.

It’s worth every single penny.
