I tell you something there is nothing like bringing your six-year-old to a rave of a Wednesday morning. This morning we mitched our way into town for Morning Gloryvilles Rise and Rave. I’m officially COOL, her words – not mine!
Random as f**k, I know. I saw an article in The Echo a couple of weeks back and spontaneously bought the ticket not knowing if I’d even get a babysitter for me three angels but I managed to pull it off!
Basically, Rise and Rave is a pop-up alcohol-free and child-friendly morning rave. This morning it was held in Andrews Lane. Upon arrival, you’re greeted by a ‘wake and shake’ team. Free hugs anyone? And inside they have free yoga and a massage station, performers and dancers, face painting and a banging dancefloor with live DJs.
There’s not really much else to it, it’s really just a morning rave starting at 6.30 (ending at 10am). We danced. The Big Kid did Yoga. I had Lolly & Cooks coffee whilst watching her do her thing. We watched the hula hooping performers. She got her face painted (€2). And she whizzed through the dancefloor robbing all the glow sticks that ravers had dropped. We’ve managed about twenty before she got sussed. And then we danced some more.
It’s was bleeding rapeh and I would definitely do it again. The ticket cost me a tenner (an early bird) and it was worth every penny and the Big Kid was free. Rise and Rave have another rave organised taken place in a church of all places on Saturday the 25th March. I’d book tickets in a heart beat but Kenzie and I will be sunning ourselves in the Martinhal Chiado in Lisbon (more on that soon!).
I’d highly recommend ear defenders for young kids, it’s a rave so it’s gonna be loud and you know your child best. My Big Kid is a bit wild so I knew she would love it. And I wouldn’t be bringing babies or toddlers unless you want to be running around after them.
Apologies for the awful photography, they are screen shots from my snap chats today. If you want to see what it was really like inside the venue I’m @mylittlebabog and they’ll be there till 7.30am tomorrow.
