Today I received a complimentary Mum’s Box, Irelands first subscription box service dedicated solely to mums and mums to be. Back in December, I wrote this post having received the press release about the box and I had planned on purchasing one but the creator happens to be a good friend and gifted the box to me with no obligation to review but I have decided to do a write up anyways. The website states each box is filled with hand-picked health and beauty items including cosmetics, bath products, sweet treats, hair care products and surprise novelty gifts and it’s delivered to your door each month.
Inside The January Box:
Butlers Chocolates
Not one, or two but FIVE. Delicious Irish chocolate truffles that I had to share with my wobbler and toddler… I thought this was Mum’s Box.
MooGoo Cows Lick Lip Balm
One of my favourite baby skincare brands, albeit a little out of our budget at present. The cows lick lip balm is a chemical free and edible lip moisturiser, perfect for soothing, conditioning and softening chapped lips. I’m chuffed this was in the box and it’s a full-size product too.
Peachy Coconut & Lime Body Butter
I’m a huge fan of Peachy skincare, I use their Peachy Baby ‘Better Bum’ nappy cream on the kids and swear by it! The coconut and lime body butter has a beautiful combo of organic shea nut butter, coconut oil, cocoa butter, vitamin E and essential oils. I’ve already given this one a whirl, I almost want to eat it, it’s very creamy but it’s non-greasy and I think I may just have to order the larger tube.
Holos Love Your Skin Body Oil
It’s an oil blend that encourages soft blemish free skin and is suitable for all skin types. I had a read up online and it says it hydrates, reduces inflammation, helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and encourages cell regeneration. I’ve wanted to try out Holos for forever so I’m chuffed this was in the box. It’s a 10ml bottle also.
Holos Happy Momma Body Oil
Rich in mandarin, neroli and sweet almond oil, a luxurious blend known to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks and promote cell re-growth for scar tissue. ThankfullyI’ve no stretchmarks to compete with but it smells divine all the same. All Holos products are vegan, gluten-free, alcohol-free, paraben free, SLS and preservative free.
Pantene Pro-V One Minute Wonder Ampoule
Did you know ampoule is just a posh word for an injection or shot? It’s a 15ml hair conditioning ampooooooooule to help reverse the signs of damage, stressed and overworked hair. Sounds right up my street! Can I have a barrel, please?
2017 Wall Calendar
An A3 wall calendar with some hilarious monthly reminders including ‘f*ck the ironing day’ and ‘eat cake for breakfast day’. I’ll take that!
Like all other subscription boxes I’ve worked out the value of each of the products received to be approximately €15.24 (not including the calendar or the packaging box itself) and the postage was €4.55 just hitting under €20, the original price of the subscription box.
I’m going to be straight out I was a little disappointed in the packaging itself, I dunno, I just expected the box to be something a bit like the Chic Treat or Glossy Box, but it was just a plain white box. But aside from the packaging, I’m 100% happy with all the products I received in my first Mum’s Bo. they are all brands I trust and have used before or have wanted to try out. I already want to get a large tub of the Peachy lime and coconut body butter to slather myself in. Without a doubt, I will order February’s box ’cause like all subscription services you can never really judge them on one box alone. I’ll look forward to seeing variety in the boxes and I’m dying to see what kind of novelty items come in the boxes over the next couple of months too. For twenty quid you cannot go wrong, it’s a lovely little treat for yourself and a cool way to introduce us busy mums to new products. Oh and I love that there were three Irish brands involved in the first box!

I happen to know the creator behind Mum’s Box and she gifted me the January box with no review obligation.
Looks great! I think the calendar was probably the novelty item for this month? As it’s January like. Love Moo Goo stuff!
Do you know what, Karen I think you’re right now that I look at it more. It is quite hilarious!
I’ve justed edited that bit out now cause I feel really stupid hahaha #loveyourbox
Love it, must have a nosey. I’m a sucker for subscriptions boxes as I like trying new products but love having them delivered so I can try a sample before commiting!
Sounds like a nice mixture of things for mums. I’ll admit I’ve given up all but one of my monthly subscriptions as I wasn’t using G half the things in them.

Lovely idea, lovely product. I like the idea of the plain packaging – means that the money is spent on the contents instead!
