When I found out I was pregnant with Kadie when Frankie was only seven months old, it was a complete shock to the system. We always wanted another but never thought it would happen so quick. I had all sorts of things running through my head. Two on bottles, two in nappies, two in cots and on top of all that I would need a double buggy. I put buggy purchases on the long finger because there was so many to choose from all stating they were the best on the market.
I knew it was going to be challenging juggling a newborn and toddler especially trying to organise everyone for school runs and the likes. Frankie is very energetic if you walk one way he goes the other, so a sling was out of the question for everyday use. We also live in a very busy estate that leads to a bypass and cars fly up and down our road. While a sling is convenient for the baby, Frankie would only be 17 months when his little sister arrived and would be too young to walk long distances.
Towards my third trimester, I researched my options and viewed numerous tandems. Not only did I need something light and easy to store, I needed something that was going to fit in my car boot and famous hall door too. I finally decided on an Out ‘N’ About Double Nipper from Irish retailer Tony Kealys after reading a zillion reviews. After I convinced Joe this was the buggy for us I then had to convince him to get a purple one. I’ve only ever had a plain old black buggy and this came in black, red, green, purple and blue.
The Out ‘N’ About Double Nipper has an array of features such as rear wheel suspension, a 360° turning front wheel ( that is awesome) with air-filled tyres which make manoeuvring easy and an uncomplicated pedal brake that keeps the buggy secure at all times. It has a light weight aluminium frame making it one of the lightest double buggies around weighing 12.8kg. And it fits through all standard doors so I’ve yet to crash or get stuck outside a shop.
I prefer when the baby is looking at me when they are small and although the Nipper itself is suitable from birth with a lie-flat newborn position but I also decided to get a carry cot and adaptor. The carry cot is narrower than your average and is only available in black but it’s snug, sturdy and adapts to the buggy easily. It comes with a hood, liner, mattress, and apron. The apron is a bit niggly now in fairness, as if it’s had a round in the tumble dryer but with a tug and pull it fits grand.
The Out N About Double Nipper comes with large sun canopies with four storage pockets (that drive you insane ’cause you can never remember where you put your phone or keys!). It also has little windows so you can check on the kids without having to retract the canopy. There is also two storage pouches at the back of the seats. I store the rain cover in one and spare nappies and wipes in the other. And like most buggies, it has a five point harness so my little Houdini cannot escape and the multi-position reclining and wipe clean and easily removable seat covers come padded for extra comfort.

Overall I would recommend an Out ‘N’ About Double Nipper with the carrycot for a newborn. I love so much about it. I wanted something that was going to grow with the kids, easy to store, collapse and clean. It’s an absolute dream to push and anyone who has had a little go of it has said the same. It makes my life with two under two a hell of a lot easier.
