Birthing Ball
I had awful back pain during my pregnancy on Frankie so my midwife recommended a birthing ball and demonstrated the movements I should be practising such as pelvic rocking and doing hip circles in the shape of the number eight to relieve pain and discomfort, and to help baby move down. It definitely helped me so I would recommend a birthing ball especially even just for labour. Although I must warn you any small kids will fight over the ball.
B.O.N Oil Liquid Gold
In previous pregnancies I used Bio Oil to moisturize my expanding bump and skin but always found it oily and it took ages to dry in. This pregnancy I’ve swapped to B.O.N Oil Liquid Gold. It’s non greasy with a unique cocktail of natural plant oils including avocado, grape seed, and rose hip. It has a delicate rose fragrance so it smells divine, my skin is so soft, moisturized and my belly hasn’t been itchy once.
B.O.N Oil Liquid Gold is €14.99 and available in all good health stores and pharmacies.
Essencia Sweet Dreams Blend
I won a beautiful hamper at the Irish Parenting Blog Awards from Birthing Mama’s and I found this little gem in it. Essencia Sweet Dreams aromatherapy blend uses a combination of oils to promote feelings of relaxation, to soothe and calm the mind; ease anxiety and support a healthy sleep pattern during pregnancy. If I’ve had a stressful day it’s my go-to product and I love it’s rich chamomile and lavender fragrance. It’s recommended from 16 weeks.
A 50ml bottle of Essencia Aromatherapy Sweet Dreams blend is €9.99 and available HERE.
Pregnancy Pillow
From the moment your bump begins to expand it can be a struggle to get comfortable at bedtime. I invested in a pregnancy pillow during my second trimester on Frankie, and it has made a reappearance already. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without it. There’s an added bonus with pregnancy pillows as they double up as a nursing pillow when your baby is born too.
Lush Bath Bombs
I’m a huge fan of baths and what’s a bath without a refreshing or relaxing bath bomb. If my back is aching, my feet are tender or if I just need a bit of pampering, I reach for my supply of Lush Bath Bombs and treat myself to a nice hot bath when the kids are in bed. There is so many to choose from, my favourites are Granny Takes a Dip, A French Kiss and Butterball.

Lush Bath bombs and birthing ball got my through my pregnancy too! =D
Lush bath bombs are by far the greatest!
Best invention ever, there’s way too many to choose from!
Yeah! Love Christmas time in the Lush stores.. can never control myself! 😛
I spent so much time in the bath during my pregnancy. At least an hour or two a day. Oh I miss it. Now I’m luck to get 30 minutes a week.
The pregnancy pillow was also my buddy. I used it after pregnancy too. It took the pressure off my sore boobs while expressing.
I’m not having as many as I would like but I treasure them when I get the chance. That’s a great idea, must keep that in mind when baby arrives!
I used a birthing ball all the time..it was a saviour!! 🙂 #mummymonday
What did we ever do without them…
I love lush bath bombs and I too would recommend a pregnancy pillow #mummymonday xx
These two seem to be a firm favourite with all the mammies!
Good list. I used none of these though. for a pregnancy pillow I used a cheap alternative and used a normal pillow instead.
I’d need three pillow to make my little shrine going to bed. At least I only need the one. Even if it’s the length of the bed lol x
I fell asleep on the birthing ball during labour they had to take it away haha The pregnancy pillow was a god send though! x
Oh your kidding right? hahaha brilliant!!
Agree completely about the birthing ball and pillow! I’ve never been one for baths, but if you enjoy them then make sure you have loads of them now because there might not be much time for them later 🙂 #mummymonday
I know right, there’ll be three of them running around the house soon! God help me!!
Great list I loved on my ball when I was expecting Ella lol love the look of that oil I found bio oil bit greasy and never dried properly
It’s really good stuff. I’ll never go back to Bio Oil. I used it on little man after his bath last week, he got a mini massage too. His skin was so soft afterwards. Much better than baby oil too, again they take ages to dry in and the oily texture puts me right off.
I wish I had known about that BON oil in my pregnancies – an oil that soaks in and isn’t sticky sounds really great! The pregnancy pillow is the best, I used it to breastfeed my babies and then when they were learning to sit up, i used to put it behind them to fall back on 🙂 #wineandboobs
I’m always fascinated by what goes into a “normal” pregnancy and birth! With my twins the emergency C-section meant that I had no say in the birth experience, and my enormity meant that I just took to sleeping on the reclining portion of my sofa. I couldn’t get myself up from bed!
Thanks for linking with #TwinklyTuesday.
Baths are a gift to women. I absolutely feel so much better after partaking in one. When I was preggers I was too fat for the tub and would get cold so easily. Thanks again for hosting #linkalist!
I LOVE this oil!
I am loving Aveda hand mosturizer at the moment and beautiful smelling leave in conditioners for my hair. Actually, anything that smells beautiful and flowery I pretty much love. Loving this article x
Olivia loves the lush bath bombs! 🙂 Thank you for hosting #linkalist 🙂
Great list! And FYI a bath is a *real* bath without a bit of lush! 😉
I only ever take a bath when I am pregnant or maybe the very rare time. I am desperate to try LUSH products though – it might change my opinion 😉 x
Ah see that was me too until I discovered Lush. I’m going to town tomorrow to start picking up my hospital bag, I might even sneak in a Lush trip hehe x
