Last week I attended the Stellar Shine Awards the only Irish awards that is solely dedicated to recognising, celebrating and applauding young women aged 18 to 35. There was ten categories with over 75 awesome Irish women nominated including best author, best actress, best sports star, best singer and best radio personality. I was there amongst some of Irelands finest women because I was nominated in the best blogger or vlogger category (yes I’m still pinching myself).
I attended the awards hosted by Mia Dunphy in The Spencer with my friend Louise, we sipped cocktails, we chased and nibbled on the delicious food hovering around the room, mingled with some of Ireland’s biggest role models and I enjoyed my five minutes of fame as my name was called out along with the other finalists. Suzanne Jackson an amazing role model, beauty and fashion blogger won my category. I’ve been a huge fan of hers three years now. She is a huge inspiration to many young women including myself.
Katie Taylor won best sports star, Cecilia Ahern won best author and Una Healy from The Saturdays won best singer, who unfortunately couldn’t make it on the night to accept their shine award gongs. While Jennifer Maguire best known from Republic of Telly won best TV presenter. The hilarious Hillary Rose won best comedian. The beautiful Aoibheann McCaul won best actress on the night and best fashion designer went to Chupi Sweetman-Pell. Nikki Hayes from Spin 103.8 also won the best radio personality. The biggest and most inspirational award on the night was awarded to Louise McSharry for best role model.
It was a fantastic night, I’m honored and still quite speechless I was a finalist with my parenting blog. I never expected anyone to read my blogs except for friends and family. It’s six months since I set up My Little Babog and I’m loving every minute of it. I am so grateful to each and everyone of you who nominated me. I will treasure this moment forever!!
